Recap: Progreso Red Ants vs. Lasara Lions
The Progreso Red Ants had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 59-47 victory over Lasara. This was payback for Progreso, who suffered a 54-44 defeat the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Sophia Pecina, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Progreso's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Galvan, who scored 6 points along with 9 steals and 8 rebounds.
Progreso's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Lasara, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Progreso will head out on the road to face off against IDEA Frontier College Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lasara will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Taft at 5:00 p.m. on December 5th. Taft comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
