Softball Recap: Orleans Gets the Win

After losing to Mitchell the last time they met, Orleans decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bulldogs walked away with a 5-2 win over the Bluejackets on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Ella Owens made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Orleans let Chelsea Ralph and Izzie Rutherford run wild. Ralph went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Rutherford went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Orleans was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Orleans' victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Mitchell, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 9-7 record.

Looking ahead, Orleans will head out on the road to face off against Crawford County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mitchell, they will face off against South Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
