Softball Recap: Pueblo Central Extends Winning Streak to Three

Pueblo Central had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Columbine Rebels. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by just one run.

Kaydence Martinez looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Norah Montes, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karsyn Castro, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Pueblo Central's victory bumped their record up to 8-2-1. As for Columbine, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Coming up, Pueblo Central will challenge Grandview at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Columbine, they will be taking part in a tournament against Brighton at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.22 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of.
