Football Game Preview: Tyner Academy Rams vs. Watertown Purple Tigers + Official Tickets

Two dominant signal callers in Tyler Anderson and Garrett Davis are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Tyner Academy Rams will welcome the Watertown Purple Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Tyner Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last seven matchups.

Tyner Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Chattanooga Central, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Rams blew past the Pounders, posting a 35-0 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rams' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Pounders are ranked 314th).

Watertown had taken Forrest down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Purple Tigers fell 35-28 to the Rockets. The Purple Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tyner Academy's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.7 points on average over those games. As for Watertown, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Tyner Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Watertown in their previous matchup back in November of 2017, winning 33-22. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Purple Tigers' Heath Price, who picked up 166 receiving yards and two TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Rams to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
