Wauconda fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Grant Community on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Grant Community by a score of 11-10. Wauconda's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Lucas Swanson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Blake Swanson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Jackson Rudolph was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Wauconda's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Grant Community, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7.

While Wauconda had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
