Basketball Game Preview: Hammond Morton Governors vs. Portage Indians

The Hammond Morton Governors will take on the Portage Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Hammond Morton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.

On Tuesday, Hammond Morton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 61-55 to Marquette Catholic. The loss was the Governors' first of the season.

Hammond Morton might have lost, but man, Kylah KP Patterson was a machine: she dropped a double-double with 28 points and 19 boards. Patterson has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 28 times she's played. De'Zyrra DW Willingham was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Portage didn't have quite enough to beat Crown Point on Friday and fell 58-55.

Portage now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Hammond Morton, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1-1.

Everything came up roses for Hammond Morton against Portage when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 58-16 win. Will the Governors repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
