Softball Recap: Marathon Takes a Loss

Marathon came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Pacelli Cardinals, falling 8-1. The game marked the Red Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Marathon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brinly Stencil, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

Marathon's loss dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Pacelli, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marathon will square off against Iola-Scandinavia at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pacelli, they will take on Tri-County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals are facing the Penguins at the right time seeing as the Penguins are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
