Soccer Game Preview: Branford vs. Dixie County

The Branford Buccaneers will venture away from home to face off against the Dixie County Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Branford is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals back in December of 2024, they were much more limited against Bell back in December of 2024. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 4-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as the Buccaneers were already down 3-0.

Their goal came courtesy of Alan Mcgriff, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, Dixie County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. 2025 welcomed they with an 8-0 loss courtesy of Lafayette. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly eight goals.

Branford's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-5. As for Dixie County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Branford took their win against Dixie County when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Branford since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
