Sahuarita and Salpointe Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Sahuarita had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Lancers. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost six in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Sahuarita lost, don't look at Paige Clarke. Despite the final result, she had nine digs and four aces. Clarke has been hot for a while, having posted two or more aces the last 15 times she's played.

Salpointe Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nicole Monge, who had 11 digs and four assists. Those four assists gave Monge a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Burgle, who had nine assists and eight digs.

Sahuarita's loss dropped their record down to 19-11. As for Salpointe Catholic, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 29-8.
