Basketball Recap: Weslaco East Comes Up Short

Weslaco East managed to keep up with Palmview until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Wildcats lost 57-32 to the Lobos. The Wildcats were down 47-19 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Palmview got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lino Salas out in front who dropped a double-double with ten points and 18 rebounds. Salas is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Pablo Trevino, who shot 5-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 boards.

Weslaco East's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Palmview, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Coincidentally, Weslaco East and Palmview will both be playing Sotomayor the next time they take the court. The Wildcats will head out to face the WILDCATS at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Lobos will head out to face them at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
