Basketball Recap: Archbishop Stepinac Falls to St. Frances Academy in First Game of Season

Archbishop Stepinac had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 66-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Frances Academy Panthers. The game was a 32-32 toss-up at halftime, but the Crusaders couldn't quite close it out.

Archbishop Stepinac lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jasiah Jervis, who went 8-for-16 en route to 20 points and three steals. Adonis Ratliff was another key player, shooting 43% from the field to rack up 16 points along with seven boards and six blocks.

St. Frances Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Archbishop Stepinac will face off against Cardinal Hayes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Frances Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 70-66 win against Mount St. Joseph on the 1st.
