Football Game Preview: Big Walnut Golden Eagles vs. Dublin Scioto Irish

Big Walnut and Dublin Scioto are an even 4-4 against one another since September of 2017, but not for long. The Golden Eagles will be playing at home against the Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Big Walnut is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

Big Walnut barely beat Westerville North the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Eagles breezed past the Warriors to the tune of 37-3 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won six matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Nolan Buirley and Eli Stumpf were among the main playmakers for Big Walnut as the former gained 205 total yards and the latter threw for 131 yards and three TDs on perfect 8-for-8 passing. Buirley is also crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 138 every time he's taken the field this season.

Big Walnut was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westerville North only rushed for -4.

Meanwhile, Dublin Scioto got their first taste of in-conference action on Friday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 34-24 win over Hayes.

Big Walnut better keep an eye on Eden Williams. He was instrumental in Dublin Scioto's win, rushing for 186 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Williams is becoming a predictor of the Irish's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Nevin Densel, who threw for 129 yards and one TD.

Dublin Scioto's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. The heavy lifting was done by Player #97 and Player #24, who racked up all four sacks between them.

Big Walnut's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Dublin Scioto, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Everything came up roses for Big Walnut against Dublin Scioto when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 38-10 victory. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Irish turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
