Basketball Recap: Alpena's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Alpena had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down the Sault Area Blue Devils 55-38 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 65-42 back in December of 2024.

Alpena's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Sault Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Alpena and Sault Area could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Alpena (ranked 440th) will meet Traverse City Central (ranked 97th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alpena is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season. Similarly, Sault Area will square off against Pickford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday down 455 places (517 vs. 62).
