Newaygo had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Chippewa Hills on Tuesday. The Lions blew past the Warriors 3-0. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

One reason for the win was Newaygo's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-15, 25-9.

Ruby Hughes paced Newaygo's offense, picking up ten kills. Hughes got some help from Grace Hughes and her 20 assists. Grace was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Newaygo's victory bumped their record up to 24-12. As for Chippewa Hills, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-13.

Looking ahead, Newaygo will challenge Grant at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chippewa Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
