Football Recap: Falkner Comes Up Short

If Falkner was feeling good fresh off their 54-24 takedown of Thrasher last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Falkner was dealt a 42-7 loss at the hands of Tupelo Christian Prep on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for Falkner in their meetings with Tupelo Christian Prep: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Falkner still got an impressive performance from Anthony Morgan, who rushed for 110 yards on only 15 carries, and also picked up 32 receiving yards. Morgan's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 110 rushing yards.

Tupelo Christian Prep was led to victory by Micaiah Young and Knox Hensley. Young rushed for 157 yards and three scores while picking up 9.8 yards per carry, while Hensley rushed for 150 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. Hensley's longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Falkner's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Tupelo Christian Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Coming up, Falkner will host Smithville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Seminoles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.4 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Tupelo Christian Prep, they will head out to face off against Red Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
