Volleyball Recap: Glencoe Yellowjackets vs. Fort Payne Wildcats
Glencoe lost against Fort Payne back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Yellowjackets fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Glencoe actually scored more points across those three sets (60-59), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 18-25, 15-11.
Mia Talbot paced Glencoe's offense, picking up 12 kills. Talbot got some help from Kinlee Montgomery and her 11 assists. Finally, Millie Chambless kept Glencoe's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.
Fort Payne can attribute much of their success to Carley Cash, who had 11 digs and two aces. Ally Chadwick was another key player, getting 16 assists and five digs.
Glencoe's loss dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Fort Payne, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-7 record this season.
Glencoe will challenge Etowah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fort Payne, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Athens Bible on the 27th.
