Baseball Recap: Glenbard South Find Success

Glenbard South's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Fenton Bison a 10-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Bison: they've now won eight in a row.

Tommy Burke was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Burke was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Joe DeMeo was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Glenbard South's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Gavin Pogorzelski was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Glenbard South now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Fenton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Glenbard South will have a chance to go back-to-back against Fenton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
