Baseball Recap: Grosse Pointe North Comes Up Short

Grosse Pointe North had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 7-13 to make it four. They fell 8-3 to the L'Anse Creuse North Crusaders. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Norsemen, who fell 4-2 when the teams last met on Monday.

Zane Hemler was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Grosse Pointe North saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Lipscomb, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

As for L'Anse Creuse North, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games.

On L'Anse Creuse North's side, they got a great performance from Andrew Weinrauch as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Weinrauch a new career-high.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grosse Pointe North will take on Royal Oak at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for L'Anse Creuse North, they will challenge Cranbrook Kingswood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
