Softball Game Preview: Liberty Lancers vs. Rampart Rams

Liberty is 8-2 against Rampart since August of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lancers will head out on the road to take on the Rams at 3:30 p.m. Liberty is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Liberty not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 9th (when they won 19-0). Everything went their way against Doherty as they made off with a 12-0 win. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Kaylin Rigby was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Selena Morales was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Doherty only posted an OBP of .200.

Meanwhile, Rampart was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Pueblo Centennial.

Liberty's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Rampart, their loss dropped their record down to 3-17.

Everything went Liberty's way against Rampart when the teams last played back in September, as Liberty made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
