Baseball Game Preview: First Flight Nighthawks vs. Hertford County Bears

For the second straight game, First Flight will face off against Hertford County. The Nighthawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, First Flight got the win against Hertford County by a conclusive 12-1. The Nighthawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Kaiwi Sharp made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Sharp was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Gavin Capps looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Fionn Reilly was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Francis, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

First Flight was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2025.

The victory made it two in a row for First Flight and bumps their season record up to 12-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Hertford County, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
