Basketball Recap: Lake Country Christian Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Lake Country Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Grace Prep Lions and fell 83-48. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 77-41 to the Lions when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Country Christian lost on Tuesday, don't look at Carter Johnson. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-11 on his way to 12 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Jake Buchanan, who posted six points.

Grace Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mj Boyd out in front who shot 63% from the field to rack up 26 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Green, who went 7-for-10 en route to 19 points.

Lake Country Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-37 win against Covenant Classical on the 6th. As for Grace Prep, they have also already played their next game, a 66-60 loss against Parish Episcopal on the 11th.
