Basketball Recap: Oaks Christian Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Oaks Christian lost to Simi Valley back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Oaks Christian Lions put the hurt on the Simi Valley Pioneers with a sharp 70-49 victory. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Pioneers are ranked 384th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Simi Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caden Temme went 7 of 16 en route to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joaquin Aleman, who posted 14 points.

Oaks Christian pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for Simi Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Oaks Christian will square off against Corona del Mar at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Simi Valley, they will face off against Bishop Diego at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
