Volleyball Recap: Toronto Takes a Loss

After flying high against David Anderson on Monday, Toronto came back down to earth. The Red Knights came up short against the Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights on Tuesday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maroon Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 two weeks ago.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Wheeling Central Catholic scored at least 20 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-22.

Jayna Reeves paced Toronto's offense, picking up seven kills. Reeves got some help from Danielle Sutherin and her nine assists. Gracee Rex and Sydney Fisher kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Toronto has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-6.

Toronto has already played their next match (against Madonna), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Tyler on the 1st.
