Florence/Henry couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 34-20 fall against the Waverly/South Shore Coyotes on Friday. The Falcons just can't catch a break and have now endured nine losses in a row dating back to last season.

Waverly/South Shore got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zach Ries out in front who threw for 96 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 88 yards on only 11 carries. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards. Sam Appelhof was Ries' top target, picking up 77 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The victory got Waverly/South Shore back to even at 1-1.

Florence/Henry will look to defend their home field on Friday against Great Plains Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. As for Waverly/South Shore, they will square off against Wilmot at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
