Basketball Game Preview: Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets vs. Dougherty Trojans

Dougherty is hoping to do what Cairo couldn't on Friday: put an end to Thomas County Central's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Thomas County Central blew past Cairo 56-27. The matchup marked the Yellow Jackets' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Jaden Crews was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 13 on her way to 19 points in addition to eight steals and five boards. Crews is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chan Dunbar, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Thomas County Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 15 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Dougherty ended up a good deal behind Colquitt County on Tuesday and lost 71-56. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Packers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Thomas County Central pushed their record up to 4-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Dougherty, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
