Basketball Recap: Hesperia Christian Starts Season with Loss at Home

Hesperia Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to the Summit Leadership Academy EAGLES at home by a 65-47 margin on Monday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Hesperia Christian lost, don't look at Gabe Sanchez. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points along with eight boards and seven steals. Davide Marenco was another key player, putting up 15 points and seven rebounds.

Summit Leadership Academy was led to victory by DayDay Hilt and Lamar Johnson. Hilt put up 24 points and six steals, while Johnson dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 boards. The contest was Hilt's 13th in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Jackson, who earned five points and seven rebounds.

Hesperia Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-34 win against Bethel Christian on the 18th. As for Summit Leadership Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 64-45 victory against Academy of Careers & Exploration on the 18th.
