Basketball Recap: Smoky Mountain Skates Past Swain County with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smoky Mountain). They claimed a resounding 93-60 win over the Swain County Maroon Devils. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-29.

Smoky Mountain had a senior duo take command as Ben Brown shot 86% from beyond the arc to rack up 30 points and five boards and Custer Prenger dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Brown now owns an excellent 42.5% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Ace Prenger, who went 8-for-13 on his way to 17 points.

Smoky Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Smoky Mountain's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Coming up, Smoky Mountain will host Erwin at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Swain County, they have already played their next game, a 68-67 win against Hiwassee Dam on the 5th.
