Softball Recap: West Springfield Extends Winning Streak to Five

West Springfield waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lake Braddock Bruins a 1-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Not much got past Andrea Yagui, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Lake Braddock off the board. Yagui has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, West Springfield secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Clara Sutton, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

West Springfield's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Lake Braddock, they moved to 16-6 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: West Springfield beat the Bruins by a score of 1-0 later that day.
