Basketball Recap: Tracy Takes a Loss

Tracy was the 43-34 winner over Merced when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs lost 46-26 to the Bears on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 698th, while the Bears are ranked 261st).

Merced got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Averie Steverson out in front who posted eight points along with eight steals and six rebounds. That's the most steals Steverson has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Amiya Brown, who shot 60% from the field on her way to 15 points.

Tracy now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Merced, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Tracy has already played their next game, a 34-30 loss against Sierra on the 12th. As for Merced, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-20 victory against Ripon Christian on the 12th.
