Basketball Recap: Grand Junction Central Falls to Lutheran in First Game of Season

Grand Junction Central unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 61-60 to the Lutheran Lions. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Adam Tabora, who went 5-for-11 en route to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Rylie Hoyt, who posted ten points and eight boards.

Lutheran was led to victory by Hudson Raymond and Logan Clarkson. Raymond shot 67% from the field on his way to 19 points, while Clarkson went 7-for-11 to rack up 16 points. Those 19 points gave Raymond a new career-high. Mason Clark was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

The victory got Lutheran back to even at 1-1.

Grand Junction Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-56 defeat against Pueblo Central on the 5th. As for Lutheran, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 79-61 loss against Fruita Monument on the 5th.
