Basketball Recap: Gramercy Christian Takes a Loss

Gramercy Christian lost against Epiphany on November 7th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Warriors took an 81-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The Warriors were down 61-40 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Gramercy Christian still got an impressive performance from Luke Bowling, who posted 30 points and five boards. Bowling is becoming a predictor of the Warriors' success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Sam Long, who put up eight points and 15 rebounds.

Leading Epiphany to victory were Thomas Lathan and Finley Parker. Lathan went 10-for-16 to rack up 26 points along with eight boards and three steals, while Parker dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 assists. Those 11 assists gave Parker a new career-high. Wood Mattocks was another key player, shooting 60% from the field en route to 14 points.

Gramercy Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Epiphany, their record is now 5-2.

Coming up, Gramercy Christian will face off against Shining Light Academy at 9:30 p.m. on December 4. As for Epiphany, they will challenge Arendell Parrott Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
