Football Game Preview: First Baptist Saints vs. Central Texas Christian Lions

The First Baptist Saints will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Central Texas Christian Lions at 5:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with First Baptist sitting on six straight victories and Central Texas Christian on four.

First Baptist is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Sacred Heart a 42-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Saints' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Indians are ranked 756th).

Dylan Jones produced another solid performance throwing for 288 yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Central Texas Christian against Live Oak Classical on Thursday as the squad secured a 50-0 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by 29 points or more this season.

First Baptist better keep an eye on Austin Evans. He was instrumental in Central Texas Christian's win, rushing for 135 yards and three scores on only nine carries. Evans' rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 113 rushing yards. Rhett Humphrey did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and five extra points.

First Baptist's record is now 10-2. As for Central Texas Christian, their record now sits at 10-1.

Everything came up roses for First Baptist against Central Texas Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 54-21 victory. Do the Saints have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
