Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary Cardinals vs. Deubrook Dolphins

St. Mary is 1-9 against Deubrook since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The St. Mary Cardinals will take on the Deubrook Dolphins at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, St. Mary humbled Baltic with a 70-39 victory. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 30 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Deubrook was able to grind out a solid victory over Hills-Beaver Creek on Saturday, taking the game 50-42. Given the Dolphins' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 45th in South Dakota, while the Patriots are ranked 164th in Minnesota), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Deubrook has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for St. Mary, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.

St. Mary strolled past Deubrook in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 54-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Mary since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
