The Bluffton Tigers will square off against the Rochester Zebras at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Bluffton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Blackford on Thursday. The Tigers were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Bruins. 11 seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Dawson Lee looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Easton Blair and Axton Beste did most of the damage at the plate: Blair scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Beste scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Beste has posted since back in April of 2024.
Bluffton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Rochester hadn't done well against Glenn recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Zebras never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Zebras' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Brady Coleman and Brant Beck made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Coleman tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Beck didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. At the plate, Coleman scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Beck scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Tanner Reinartz was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Parker Casper, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Bluffton's record now sits at 2-0. As for Rochester, their record is now 3-0.
Bluffton suffered a grim 13-4 defeat to Rochester in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
