James Monroe picks up 12th straight win at home

Recap: James Monroe Mavericks vs. Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders

The James Monroe Mavericks came tearing into Friday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Greater Beckley Christian with points to spare, taking the game 45-31. That result was just more of the same for these two, as James Monroe also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2022.

James Monroe was led to victory by Brady Baker and Ryan Cole. Baker dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Cole scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Baker has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Cooper Ridgeway was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and four steals.

Despite the defeat, Greater Beckley Christian saw an underclassman step up: Isaiah Kincaid scored eight points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Davidson, who scored eight points along with four steals.

James Monroe pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.6 points per game. As for Greater Beckley Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
