Softball Recap: Arab Has No Trouble Against Douglas

Arab lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Douglas, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. The Knights put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 10-1 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Madi Hartline made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Blackmon, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Partington, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Arab hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive games.

Arab's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-14-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Douglas, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-6.

Coming up, Arab will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Fairview at 4:30 p.m. As for Douglas, they will head out on the road to challenge Albertville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
