Soccer Game Preview: Boyne City vs. Houghton

The Boyne City Ramblers will head out to take on the Houghton Gremlins at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Boyne City came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Elk Rapids, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Boyne City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Elk Rapids are ranked 119th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Houghton). They came out on top against Sault Area by a score of 2-0 on Saturday.

Houghton's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Boyne City, they now have a losing record of 5-6-3.

Boyne City came out on top in a nail-biter against Houghton when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ramblers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
