Basketball Recap: Lincoln Burns' Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Burke over Freedom

East Burke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Freedom Patriots. The Cavaliers were not able to make up for their loss to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lincoln Burns, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Bennett, who posted 14 points.

East Burke's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Freedom, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, East Burke will challenge Newton-Conover at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Freedom, they and T.C. Roberson will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played. The Patriots will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
