Baseball Recap: Leyden Takes a Loss

Leyden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Addison Trail Blazers. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blazers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Julian Martinez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Jacob Ganir made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Anthony Correa, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Leyden's loss dropped their record down to 8-20. As for Addison Trail, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-13.

Leyden has already played their next game (against Wheeling), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Addison Trail, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 4-2 defeat against Downers Grove North on the 20th.
