Football Recap: Cibola Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Piedra Vista + How To Watch

Cibola faced Piedra Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cougars lost 28-7 to the Panthers. The Cougars have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Piedra Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amasi Griego, who rushed for 88 yards and one score, and also threw for 86 yards and a pair of TDs. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 59 yards. AJ Cockrell also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Cibola's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Piedra Vista, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-5.
