Football Game Preview: Hillsboro Spartans vs. Mountain View Cougars

The Hillsboro Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Mountain View Cougars on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Hillsboro didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Canby, but they still walked away with a 37-31 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Zakiden Obrien was nothing short of spectacular: he picked up 168 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Hillsboro didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Noah Francia and Obrien.

Meanwhile, Mountain View blew past Bend, posting a 40-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven games by 29 points or more so far this season.

Mountain View's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Hillsboro, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Hillsboro might still be hurting after the 41-20 loss they got from Mountain View when the teams last played back in November of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Cougars' Angel Valenzuela, who rushed for 192 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.
