Basketball Recap: Swink Lions vs. La Junta Tigers
Swink had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the La Junta Tigers by a score of 41-39. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.
Despite the loss, Swink still got an impressive performance from Jocelynn James, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Mendenhall, who had six points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead La Junta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooklyn Lovato, who put up ten points and four steals. What's more, Lovato posted two assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Raquel Rodriguez, who scored six points and eight boards.
Swink wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-35 win against Crowley County on the 6th. As for La Junta, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-26 loss against Monte Vista on the 6th.
