The Hanks Knights are taking a road trip to face off against the El Dorado Aztecs at 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
Hanks is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Del Valle just ended the team's four-match winning streak on Friday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Conquistadores. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Conquistadores 25-19 in the first set.
Hanks started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-12, 25-11, 27-25.
Meanwhile, El Dorado came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Matadors.
El Dorado walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-12, 22-25, 25-21.
Hanks better focus on containing Hannah Garcia and Abilene Solis as the pair were huge in El Dorado's win. Garcia had 40 assists and 14 digs, while Solis had 15 digs, 13 kills, two aces, and one block. That's the most digs Solis has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Sophia Varela, who had 18 digs and three aces.
El Dorado's win bumped their record up to 15-18. As for Hanks, their loss dropped their record down to 11-19.
Hanks couldn't quite get it done against El Dorado in their previous meeting back in September as they fell 3-1. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
