Basketball Recap: North Henderson Knights vs. Smoky Mountain Mustangs

The North Henderson Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 61-30 loss at the hands of Smoky Mountain. North Henderson was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Dulce Geronimo and Bailee Davidson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Geronimo scored 12 points along with six rebounds, while Davidson scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Geronimo has scored all season.

It was another big night for Greenlee Flynn, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six steals for Smoky Mountain. Dayritzis Chinea was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

North Henderson dropped their record down to 3-17 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.4 points per game. As for Smoky Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.

North Henderson has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Tuscola focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday. As for Smoky Mountain, they will head out on the road to challenge the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 51.72 points so far this season, West Henderson's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Mustangs better be ready for a challenge.
