Basketball Game Preview: Chester Volcanoes vs. Quincy Trojans

Chester is 0-10 against Quincy since January of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Chester Volcanoes will square off against the Quincy Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Chester turned things around against CORE Butte on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Lynx by a score of 42-32.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Quincy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 43-36 win over Portola on Tuesday.

Quincy's win came from a few key players Chester will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jenna Peay, who posted 22 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar McCarthy, who had five points in addition to 15 boards and five assists.

Quincy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.1 points per game. As for Chester, their record is now 13-7.

Chester took a serious blow against Quincy when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 59-32. Can Chester avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
