Football Recap: Emerald Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Emerald can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 49-0 loss at the hands of the South Pointe Stallions. Having soared to a lofty 44 points in the game before, the Vikings' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Beau Hite threw for 28 yards on seven of 13 attempts.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Pointe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kadin Vassel, who picked up 114 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. R.J. Brown was in the mix as well, providing the Stallions with two scores.

With the defeat, Emerald broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5. As for South Pointe, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

Emerald does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Pointe, they will welcome A.C. Flora at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Stallions 6.8, the Falcons 12.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
