Portal took a 40-point loss the last time they faced off against McIntosh County Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers skirted past the Buccaneers 27-24.

A big part of Portal's win came down to the chemistry between Gideon Fulcher and his top target Zeke Percell. Fulcher threw for 85 yards and three touchdowns while Percell gained 70 total yards and a touchdown. That's the most passing touchdowns Fulcher has posted since back in August.

When it comes to explaining why McIntosh County Academy lost on Friday, don't look at Earnest McIntosh. Despite the final result, he rushed for 226 yards and three scores.

Portal pushed their record up to 4-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.7 points over those games. As for McIntosh County Academy, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-5.

As of now, neither Portal nor the Buccaneers have any future games scheduled.
