Basketball Game Preview: Tonganoxie Chieftains vs. Labette County Grizzlies

The Tonganoxie Chieftains are taking a road trip to square off against the Labette County Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Tuesday, Tonganoxie didn't have quite enough to beat Ottawa and fell 45-42. The Chieftains have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Labette County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 44-39 to Field Kindley. The matchup marked the Grizzlies' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Tonganoxie will have to contain Landry Obrien as she made an impact in Labette County's last game. She posted 12 points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Obrien has posted since back in March of 2024. Amery Baker was another key player, putting up seven points and five steals.

Tonganoxie now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Labette County, their loss dropped their record down to 16-4.
