ALA - Gilbert North came up short against Saguaro on Monday, falling 16-3.
Coco Gomez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask ALA - Queen Creek). Everything went their way against Estrella Foothills on Monday as ALA - Queen Creek made off with a 21-10 win. Considering the Patriots have won four games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Chloe Varvel made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, ALA - Queen Creek got a massive performance out of Matea Webster, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Webster a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sadie Nielson, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
ALA - Queen Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Estrella Foothills only posted a batting average of .273.
ALA - Gilbert North's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for ALA - Queen Creek, their record now sits at 7-5.
ALA - Gilbert North suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to ALA - Queen Creek in their previous matchup on March 3rd. Can ALA - Gilbert North avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
