Softball Recap: Dudley Comes Up Short

If Dudley was feeling good fresh off their 25-10 takedown of Ben L. Smith on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers came up short against the Asheboro Blue Comets on Wednesday, falling 22-7. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Nevaeh Bryant and Jamaya Raley did some serious damage despite the final result: Bryant got on base in both of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs, while Raley went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. With that strong performance, Bryant is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Eryn Watkins, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Dudley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Asheboro, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dudley will challenge Western Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Asheboro, they will square off against Southern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
